Healthcare costs are spiralling to catastrophic proportions. Most countries are struggling to offer comprehensive health care to their populations. Politicians promise changes, and are keen to implement them, but are unable to deliver. We are thinking ahead and working towards changing theoretical idealism into practical reality.

Medical device manufacturers claim to reduce cost of providing best healthcare but hospitals spend more than 60% of their cost on medical device and equipments. Medifix aim to reduce this cost by reducing wasted expenses.

Company founded by doctors, striving to make various common surgical procedures simple, easy to perform, less traumatic, reduce cost and spreading infections in hospitals.

A number of disposable medical products (syringes, cannula, needles, catheters, CVP line, blood test, vacutainer, et-tubes and fluid administration lines) are used and discarded in providing the best health care. Increased use of disposables has implications on the environment, spreading hospital infection, cost and quality of health care provided.

Universal Threat

Penicillin was invented (1940s) and cannula use has increased in tandem and so did antibiotic resistant strains ( MRSA, Panton-Valentine Leukocidin (PVL), Clostridium, Ecoli and Tuberculosis (TB). Noskin and others report that a patient infected with MRSA is five times more likely to die than other patients. Wyllie et al. report a death rate of 34 percent within 30 days among patients infected with MRSA, while among MSSA patients the death rate was similar at 27%.

"Number pharmaceutical companies, there were active decisions taken that antibiotic research was not going to be profitable enough to meet their obligation to shareholders," says Talbot, an infectious-disease specialist and consultant to drug companies. "So they decided to go for drugs that would be taken for a lifetime — drugs for diabetes or high blood pressure — rather than drugs to be taken for a week."

Our Mission

As doctors, we recommend you to reduce discarding contaminated waste to help stop spreading hospital infections. Reducing disposable plastic product wastage will reduce environmental pollution and infections spreading in the community.

We are constantly improving upon the existing technology, by designing to serve a need that is clearly defined and acknowledged by medical professionals. Each technology will fill a current need in medical procedure by improving upon an existing technology. We are trying our best to help the device manufacturers change or alter their product design and technique.

Our products should be realistically priced to appeal to the healthcare provider market and patients that stresses lowest costs of total treatment parameters. Our mission is to provide the best possible available health care products and techniques which are simple, easy to use and safe. Our team of experts will work with the health care providers and are planning to offer successful models globally.

Our Contribution

U-Cann™: The first cannula introducing device designed to help doctors to introduce cannula with ease. This device is designed to offer four methods to help operators insert cannula. The device  will reduce the number of attempts required  to insert cannula in the blood vessels successfully. Our mission is to reduce trauma to patients and doctors and needle stick injuries. Reducing multiple punctures will reduce spreading hospital infection. Cleaning hospitals and hand will not help if patients coming into hospitals are carrying organisms on their skin.

U-Cann TS™. When a patient is admitted to hospital in an emergency it is common practice to insert a cannula to allow easy introduction of blood, fluids and medication. However before much-needed treatment can be given doctors often needed to wait for the results of blood tests. Only few blood test often performed in emergency are very important. Routine blood tests  in the management of acute illness are unnecessary and often confusing. In the process several disposable devices are used, including syringes, needles, vacutainer  and phlebotomy needles. This is a waste of valuable resources not to mention time at a moment when every second counts.

U-Cann TS is the first device designed to combine cannula with blood test.

Intufix™ Fixation of the tracheal tube is problem encountered by every neonatologist and anesthetist. Firm fixation is vital but the present method using gauze strapping or sticky tape on the patients run is ineffective, unhygienic. And results in potential serious problems. Confused patients and children may pull out the tube and restraining the hands of the patients using the gauze is traumatic to them and their attendants. Adhesive tape may damage skin. We have developed a simple method to help fixation and reduce accidental extubation. The device will also contribute to reduction of superbug colonising in the intensive care units.
